I am the youngest of seven children and most of my family lives within 9 miles of me.  I am married and we have 2 dogs that  are more like our children than pets.  Shhhh, they don't know they are not children. I grew up in Waterford, but I moved to  Florida when I was 18 and after spending more than 18 years  there, I decided it was time for a change.  I moved to the Washington D.C area for about 4 years until fate intervened.  My company needed me to work in Connecticut for 6 months, but while there, they sent me on a project to Michigan (of all places). After being close to my family again after a 22 year absence, I knew it was time to "come home".  Even with the cold weather, I am still glad to be a Michigan Girl again.  

While on a vacation to Sedona, Arizona I had a perfect stranger tell me that they could feel the positive energy flowing off of me and they asked if I was a Reiki Master.  Not knowing that much about Reiki at the time, I told them, "no" and started to slowly move away.  :-)   A year later while standing in line at Kroger's, it happened again.  I believe I had the same reaction and started to move towards the express lane.  Being a slow learner to realize that fate was talking to me, I had to wait another 2 years until I again returned to Sedona for a vacation.This time 2 people in the same day told me that I should be a Reiki Master.  I couldn't ignore it anymore.  I came home, and that is where my awakening began. 

I have been told that I "have a gift" by people that I trust and admire.  I don't know if that is true, but I would say that it has been a gift to be able to share so much wonderful energy with people that I have been privileged to give treatments to.  I know that every time I give a Reiki treatment I feel I get as much out of it as my client.  It is a wonderful feeling that is like having energy but being incredibly relaxed at the same time.  I call it "Reiki Xanix". 

My education is mainly in business and Computer Technology.  I have a Bachelors Degree in Business Administration, a Masters Degree in International Business and a MBA.   I am a certified Reiki Master and Teacher, but I am always amazed at what life has to teach me.

I have been teaching yoga for the past 16 years in the Lake Orion and Rochester community.  I have studied  Integrative Yoga Therapy with Joseph Lepage in Sedona, Arizona. Teacher training with Michael Johnson - Clearlight Yoga, and have studied with many teachers of different traditions. (Kripalu, Tibetan Heart Yoga, Iyengar, and Restorative) I am a registered Yoga Teacher with Yoga alliance, and also a member of the Yoga Association of Greater Detroit.  I received Reiki 1 & 2 attunements in 2001. Recently I have reconnected with my souls purpose while being by my mothers side during her transition to eternal life.  I learned so much during this time, of course the wonderful teacher she is, but I also learned there are angels in our life, all the time that we aren't always aware of.  When we are able to let go of fear and connect to Love and the flow of Life miraculous events occur.  So, I choose now to help others where I can, to help to connect to this higher wisdom.  There are so many modalities to help with this process and I offer a few: Reiki, Aromatherapy, Yoga, Meditation, and am currently learning Healing Touch. I am so thank-ful that Hannah has opened this wonderful location in downtown Oxford, so that you might find a place to Soothe-your-Soul.

My passion for photography rekindled about four years ago while photographing a few horse’s at Rochester Hills Stables. Since then my photography has blossomed!  I am now on my 3rd Horse Calendar at Rochester Hills Stables.  My photo work also includes senior portraits, people portraits, scenery, animals, and nature photography.  I am also pursuing a new business venture called “LJ Creation’s Cards and Prints!”  

The photography venture started last year after having friends at the stable comment that I should pursue the photography avenue more.  I find photography a lot of fun! Photography brings out my creative side and I love taking any type of photograph! 

The note card idea followed after showing customer’s and friends the cards! I love the idea “a card for any occasion!” One can write their own special message! So, with that this is how it all started!

...My most important roles in life are wife to my love, Paul since July 2008, and “Mom” to four amazing   kids.  I’m also a daughter, sister, aunt, grand-daughter, friend, employee, life-long student, my children’s eternal taxi driver and walking ATM, and probably a few more things that won’t come to mind until sometime after midnight. As you’ve probably guessed, As you’ve probably guessed, I’m incredibly proud of my family. That’s because, without them, I wouldn’t be at this place in my life today.

If you really want to know the whole story, we have to go back a bit.  Just like so many little girls, I dreamed of meeting and marrying Mr. Right when I grew up. I did, and we were. His name was Trent. And we were so happily married and had two incredible kids. And then he died unexpectedly in February, 2004, leaving my world upside down and my fairytale life appearing to be at an end. I don’t want to call it a turning point in my life, but that moment changed everything and forced me to look at life differently. I started to explore alternative healing concepts, because “traditional” grief therapy just was not working for me. I was trying to start the healing process, but I was still preoccupied with my two children. Consumed with trying to make their lives whole, to make their lives good, to help them feel happiness again.  I was forgetting where healing begins. Inside. A friend finally shared her thoughts: “I know you want to help your kids, but you can’t help them until you help yourself.  You can’t do this for them. You have to do it for yourself.” And I then understood that, not only was it okay to take time for myself, it was vitally important. That marked the start of something special that continues today. Every year, I try to make a weeklong visit to Sedona, Arizona. Considered by many to be the epicenter of alternative healing in the U.S., this journey connected me with a healing practice called Reiki.

It’s important I stress the fact that you don’t need a crisis to reach a turning point in life. In my case, this event just opened a door for me. The opportunities are around us all the time, and we simply need the courage to embrace them. Taking the first steps to change the direction in your life can be terrifying. And exhilarating. It’s the greatest single thing I’ve ever done in my life. When I was in Sedona, I could really focus – for the first time in 18 months – on Hannah. I allowed myself space to start healing spiritually and emotionally. Sedona opened my eyes to healing potential, and inspired me to investigate Reiki more deeply when I returned home. Very simple in nature, Reiki was something I could do for my children without explaining anything in great detail. Simple and easy to learn, this alternative healing process helped fulfill not only their needs to heal, but my desire to nurture and protect. Even better, you don’t need to go far away to tap into healing energy; it’s simply a matter of taking time for yourself.

People unfamiliar with energy work often ask me to explain what Reiki provides. As a practitioner, a 60 to 90-minute Reiki session enables me to connect with the different energy fields that help define what we are. In science classes, we all learned about the sort of energy we count on when we flip a light switch. But to be able to open yourself to an entirely different level of energy – of happiness, sadness, and the joys of life – that helps define every soul is kind of miraculous. On a more selfish level, I have only two words to say about actually receiving a Reiki treatment. Love it! A once-a-week treatment isn’t even close to enough.

Making the commitment to open Soothe Your Soul brought with it an entirely new set of challenges and opportunities to grow. I was as prepared as I could ever be, thanks to a belief that life is supposed to be a constant learning process. I’ve earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration. A decade spent in marketing and advertising in the automotive industry readied me to spread the word about Soothe Your Soul. Lessons learned as a licensed nail technician since my college days made it easier to connect with people on a personal level. And my knowledge as a paralegal, working in my father’s law office? Well, all I really need to say is, thanks Dad! That’s been a huge help. All these things and more led me to eventually become a certified Reiki Master Practitioner and Teacher, and Life Coach Institute Life Coach. Each of us may walk a different path in life, but we all have a way of wandering exactly where we need to when the time is right.

My time was October, 2008. That’s when I decided it was the right moment to open a business based on spiritual healing. Everything has fallen into place exactly as it was meant to be. For that reason, I should thank some incredible people that helped pave the way for me. I have attended trainings with some of the world’s greatest teachers (at least in my opinion).  Just to name a few: Marianne Williamson, Wayne Dyer, Lisa Guyman, Les Brown, Jack Canfield, Dr. Shad Helmstetter, John Maxwell, Dr. Brian Weiss, James Van Praagh, Michael Losier, Carolyn Myss, and Jerry and Ester Hicks. Soothe Your Soul officially opened for business February 2, 2009. I’m grateful to everyone that has played a part in this breathtaking new adventure. Just remember this: The life you live is the lesson you teach.

I’ve worked in many fields and have never been afraid to try a new career. It wasn’t until I learned Reiki that knew I had found my passion and purpose for this phase of my life. It is that exact passion and purpose that has driven me to open Soothe Your Soul. We want to inspire, empower and uplift. This is only possible in a huge part due to the amazing partnerships I have formed with all the other teachers and service providers who are joining me on this Soul Soothing mission.
